DIY: designing a phone case

$20 for a new phone case? No way! With a few dollars and absolute no drawing skills I can make my own personalised/stylish/design iPhone case and so can you! How? you may ask. Well keep on reading! Have you heard of those flash tattoos? Yes the very trendy gold and silver temporary tattoos that everyone is talking about, well this is what I used to design my phone case!

All you need is a transparent phone case that you can find for $2 dollars only on eBay and a sheet of your favourite design of temporary tattoos. If like me you already have a transparent phone case with a fading design on it, simply use nail polish remover  on a cotton pad to clean your case.

Make sure your phone case is clean and totally dry before getting started. Then cut the design of your choice out of the sheet and start placing them at the back of your phone case. Once you are happy with the disposition of your tattoos, you want to remove the transparent plastic cover and stick the tattoo on the back of your phone case.

It is very important that you stick them at the back of the case; which means on the surface that will be in contact with the back of the phone and not in the front of the case! Sticking them at the back of the phone case will provide the designs from fading.

The next step is to wet a cotton pad or a sponge with water and carefully rub the back of the paper. Just like you would do if you were applying the tattoo on your skin. Remove the paper and wait a couple minutes before it dries. Repeat the process with the rest of the chosen tattoos.

When you are happy with how your phone case looks like you can go ahead and place it on your phone. If like me you have a colourful iPhone c you might want to cut a piece of monochrome coloured paper from the size of your case and place it between the phone and the case so the design stands out.

If you decide to design your own case please let me know I would love to know how it went!
